On the Streets Around Object
Did you know that Object Gallery is on the old site of St Margaret’s Hospital for Women? Object Gallery was once the hospital chapel.
This walking tour begins at OBject Gallery, St Margaret’s, Bourke St, Surry Hills and circles around the main roads and back lanes.
From St Margaret’s urban precinct you can look into the past and at the present simultaneously. The 19th century terraces around the area are some of the oldest in Sydney and the 20th century hospital buildings have been converted into an apartment complex. The creative use of glass and other materials found in recent buildings demonstrate the energy and imagination of 21st century architects.

Let Dee Dee the Designosaur and Cosmo the Craft Critter guide you and your children through some of the laneways of Surry Hills and major thoroughfares of Taylor Square and Oxford St.
The guide includes fund activities for children and helps them develop an awareness of the built environment. The tour takes approximately 20 minutes and is suitable for children between the ages of 4 and 9.
